Justice for Poor money lender
The End Predatory Lending movement raises concerns and its implications on the severe issue of predatory lending practices especially in Lumbini Province. Loan sharks, known locally as "meter byaji," exploit vulnerable individuals with exorbitant interest rates based on forged agreements, trapping the desperate lenders in a cycle of debt and poverty.
Freedom Studio co-creates strategies of non-violent struggle together with local affected and vulnerable communities to combat these unethical and illegal practices through creative activism and advocacy. We work closely with sufferers to bring out grievances, document their stories, gather data, and raise awareness about the basic ideas revolving around combating loan sharking, keeping art in the center. Our efforts also involve engaging with youths, local authorities, namely municipal bodies and Chief District Officers (CDOs), to know the ground status of the issue and identify advocacy aspects of the issue.
Update: Bill to support loan shark victims is passed.
