Artivism Outreach

All Hands Together

All hands together, a grassroot peacebuilding project integrated 12 young activists belonging from Madhes and Pahad community of Nepal and rejuvenated the unity and energy to work together for ethnic justice, harmony and social cohesion in their communities.
This intercultural exchange program through several lectures, workshops, community visits, civic actions, sightseeing and sharing session rejuvenated the energy of 16 young enthusiasts of Kathmandu valley and Janakpur  by creating a platform to understand each other’s culture and strengthen ties. This program was able to develop skills, network and goals among participants to act to unite communities and create harmony in Nepal.

March against Global Climate Change

March against Global Climate Change was organized to mark World Environment Day 2019, whilst, engaging young people for climate action. This program was organized to advocate for the protection of Himalayas from the global warming and it aimed to ensure healthy environment and clean mountains through awareness raising. 33 young people engaged in 6 days trekking program to Mardi Base Camp. Along the way, they collected waste materials found alongside the trails, which, at the end of the trail, artists produced a structured monument (satirical) out of the accumulated waste materials.

Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Workshops

Freedom Studio in coordination with Centre for Social Change (CSC) organized six ‘PSEA workshop’ with 400 adolescent girls of Koshi flood affected families in Sunsari district and in neighourhood of Bhutanese Rufugee Camp in Jhapa district. The workshop used technique of art education to explain the different types of sexual exploitation and absue (SEA), vulnerable groups and reporting channels, where 16 different art-products from 14 artists were demonstrated and discussed among the participants

Youth Peace Caravan​

Youth Peace Caravan, a 10 days long travel program brought hands-on artivism trainings and community awareness activities to five communities in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces of Nepal. YPC moved from Kathmandu and travelled across three geographical regions of Nepal spreading the message of peace, justice, freedom and democratic governance. During the YPC, freedom Studio team undertook field research to identify scope and challenges of Artivism in Nepal. During the 10 days campaign, Caravan stopped in atleast 5 locations from these regions and conducted and observed several artivism and cultural activities. YPC activities were mainly divided into three broad categories:
  • Learn, observe and experience scope and challenges of local art and culture.
  • Organize 4 Artivism workshops among youth and women groups.
  • Conduct 3 community awareness programs in himal, pahad and terai region.

Human Rights Art Festival 2022

“Human Rights Art Festival 2022” (HRAF2022) engaged & encouraged young artists and activists to use art as awareness of human rights issues. HRAF2022 was organized on the occasion of Human Rights Day 2022, December 10 with the theme “Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All.”
This event was collaborated with the Centre for Social Change (CSC) & St. Xavier’s College. 130 people participated in the event where 25 participants perform art paintings, and face painting, 15 participants perform musical performances which included songs, dances, poems, etc. & the remaining participants installed stalls reflecting culture, art & craftwork. Along with the event, prominent guests like Pukar Bam, Milan Rai, Gopal Siwakoti, Pratima Gurung, Prof. Kapil Sharma & so on were also invited to the event to present their achievements & story behind their success.

The event motivated young artists, activists & leaders to show the power & possibility of art in society. The event created a platform to collaborate with FS for many other young artists & activists. HRAF2022’s result demonstrated that the youth of today’s generation is more involved, concerned & focused on the issues of human rights.
